Adoption Process

Adding a furry member to your family can be exciting! At Wags & Wiggles, we want to help you select a dog that is the right fit for your entire family now and for the remainder of the dog's life.

At the beginning of the adoption process, we ask each adopter to consider

  • Is everyone in the household ready to adopt?
  • Do you have the financial means to cover emergency care for the pet?
  • Have you chosen a trainer? We can provide recommendations if you live in the Newport, NH area.
  • Do you have time in your current life and career to care for a new pet?
  • Who will care for the pet in case of emergency or extended travel?
  • Have you researched the breed and any medical or behavioral trends consistent with that breed?

How Our Adoption Process Works

  1. Submit an application.
  2. A member of our Adoptions Team will reach out to you via phone or email to set up a meet and greet.
  3. Our Adoptions Team will contact your references.
  4. A member of our Adoptions Team will visit with you in your home so we can walk through how the dog will interact in your environment. This is a good opportunity for us to point out items that might get easily chewed, areas of the fence that might need to be repaired, etc.
  5. If we mutually agree that the dog is a good match, an official approval email is sent and adoption arrangements are made.

This process typically takes 1-2 weeks.

Our Adoption Fees

  • Puppies - $600 Puppies are defined as dogs under the age of 12 months.
  • Adults - $500 Adults are defined as dogs over the age of 12 months.

All adoption fees include:

  • State certificate of veterinary inspection
  • Age appropriate vaccinations, including Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella
  • Deworming
  • Microchip
  • Completed spay/neuter (adults)
  • Voucher for spay/neuter (for puppies who are not yet altered)
